Deutsche Version

The Arena-Cup 2014/2015 events will be special in many ways. In the past we developed them as a summer-series of four to five events. They were organized by stores and took place in just one or two months. Last year we tried something new with our ‘TOP 4 Trainers’ competition where winners of these four events could earn a year-long „welcome prize“ at any Pokémon premier event in Germany including National Championship. Also whenever any player defeated one of them the victor would receive a certain bounty. We had live-coverage and selected head-judges present at these events and also the press was quite interested in our program.

Now it’s time for a new evolution of the Arena-Cup series: Starting with Arena-Cup Berlin these events will not only allow TCG players to compete for Championship Points (at Regional-Level, by the way!) but also Video Game Players can take part and earn points. In addition the Arena-Cups will feature exclusive prizes including a travel-award to next National Championship worth 150 EUR for each winner of each age division. Winners can use the travel-award for train or plane tickets, busses and/or hotels on their own discretion. This might be next National Championship in Germany – but could also be the next Arena-Cup or any other Pokémon event in any other country.

Did I tell you about the TCG format by the way? As TPCI announced the new rotation there was also the implementation of a new official format to Pokémon premier play: Expanded (see the full article here) All Arena-Cup 2014/2015 events will be in Expanded and thus allow new and old players to compete in an environment different from all other premier events (at least in Germany/Austria). This will add exclusivity to these events and – combined with the fact that you will always be able to play the newest released Pokémon edition – make them a welcomed challenge to all experienced players.

What else is happening? You might remember us doing live-coverage and commented feature matches on our Nationals for a couple of years now. Well, this will happen at ALL Arena-Cups, too! With a great team of technical and game experts and talented writers each event will not only be an exciting experience for those who compete but will also become and remain a Pokémon Play! highlight in the eternity of the web.
